Calvin Coolidge
After President Harding suffered from an unexpected stroke in 1923, Calvin Coolidge was instated as the new president. He worked long and hard to clean up all of the corruption in American leadership, especially the Teapot Dome Scandal. He was viewed as a man with integrity, which restored faith in the government in American citizens. In 1924, he ran again for president and won.
The Roaring Twenties were soaring with cultural and technological advances, and Americans grew richer, splurged more, and women grew more powerful in society. During this boisterous roar Coolidge served as a reserved and respectable figure, while ruling in an old fashioned way. However, the Great Crash of 1929, which spurred the Great Depression, was a result of the imbalance in wealth distribution during the presidency of Harding and Coolidge.
